Colombia – Paid Volunteer Opportunity
For this opportunity you are applying directly to the hiring organization and will not be interviewed by Footprints.
Volunteers Colombia is a non-profit organization founded in 2009 by a group of Colombian entrepreneurs passionate about quality education for all.
Their pilot program brought four native English-speaking volunteers to public schools in the Santa Ana community on the Island of Barú. They have since hosted more than 2,500 volunteers from around the world to work directly with nearly 500,000 Colombian students and educators in public and private schools in over 60 cities throughout the country.
Volunteers Colombia currently has several programs that work with primary and secondary schools, as well as adults through SENA, the Colombian National Training Service, which focuses on vocatonal training institutes. They have opportunities available in a number of cities, and they will work with you to deermine a suitable placement location for you.
This is a volunteer opportunity, but there is a stipend offered each month that will cover your basic cost of living. The living stipend is meant to be enough to cover basic living expenses no matter where you are placed. In smaller cities, it will afford you a more comfortable lifestyle whereas in bigger cities it may only be enough to cover modest rent, food and local transportation costs.
The different programs offer commitment lenghts varying from 5 to 12 months.
