China Visas - Process for South Africans

Fees for Chinese Visas for South Africans

Getting your visa to teach in China is relatively straight forward for South Africans. There are four possible consular offices located conveniently in the following locations:

  • Cape Town
  • Durban
  • Johannesburg
  • Pretoria
  • Standard visa fee: R.250
  • Processing time: 4 working days from application
  • Rush service (next day) fee: R.250
  • 2 or 3 day service fee: R.170
  • cash payments only

    Employment Visa (Z-visa)

    • Required Documents
      1. An invitation letter or fax from the department of the Chinese Government
      2. an employment certificate issued by the relevant department or certificate of foreign expert
      3. if you are going to work more than 6 months, a "Physical Examination Record For Foreigner" filled out and signed by a doctor

    China Visa Application Process for South Africans

    1. Passport must have at least 6 months validity
    2. Passport must have at least two completely empty pages
    3. completed and signed Visa Application Form
    4. First time visitors to China need latest 3 month bank-statement
    5. "Visa Notice" or "Invitation Letter" faxed or original
    6. "Alien Employment License" issued by the Chinese Ministry of Human Resources or "Foreign Expert Work Permit" issued by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs. Must be the original.
    7. Physical Examination Record
    8. Application visa fee
  • If you are planning on having a spouse or dependant travel with you to China you will need to bring proof of kinship (marriage certificate, birth certificate).
  • NOTE: If the visa application form is not filled out completely, correctly, and legibly, this can cause a delay in processing or the refusal of the requested visa. Fees and process are subject to change from time to time at the whim of whoever is in charge. Sadly, that is not us.
