Teaching Jobs for Non-Native English Speakers

E-mail

First, let's be completely clear here.  Footprints Recruiting exclusively places native English speaking teachers who are nationals from one of the countries listed below.  Although some countries may hire teachers from other nationalities or countries, we do not have the resources to work with candidates from any other country.

That being said, this article discusses opportunities for non-native English speaking TEACHERS to get teaching jobs in the United States.

Footprints Recruiting is only able to offer teaching placements to native English speakers from the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Ireland
  • New Zealand
  • South Africa
  • United Kingdom
  • United States of America

You must have a passport from one of these countries and your English must be perfect.

Teaching Jobs in the USA for Foreign Teachers

Footprints Recruiting proudly works with the Visiting International Faculty Program, the United States' largest cultural exchange program for teachers and schools. This program offers highly qualified teachers from around the world the opportunity of serving as teachers and cultural ambassadors in the United States. VIF provides U.S. schools with world-class teachers who groom a new generation of students for success in a globally integrated world. VIF teachers work in the U.S. for up to 3 years and then return home to share their international experiences with students and colleagues in their home countries. VIF believes that international, educational and cultural exchanges are one of the most effective means of developing lasting and meaningful relationships.

Eligibility Requirements to Teach in the USA:

Are you eligible to teach in the USA with VIF? Find out by answering the following questions before submitting the online application.

  1. Are you a citizen or permanent resident of a country other than the United States?
If yes, go to question 2.
If no, please be aware VIF cannot accept applications from citizens of the United States. This cultural exchange program is open only to non-U.S. citizens or non-permanent residents of the U.S.
  2. Do you have advanced written and verbal proficiency in English?
If yes, go to question 3.
If no, please be aware that VIF can accept only teachers who are fluent in English.
  3. Do you have a valid driver's license?
Do you also have either two years of recent driving experience in your home country OR at least one year driving experience during the past three years in the U.S. or Canada?
If yes, go to question 4.
If no, please be aware that you must have a driver's license (you will submit a photocopy of your license) and recent driving experience. Teachers are required to have either two years of driving experience, from the past three years, in their home country or at least one year recent driving experience in the U.S. or Canada. Those with only one year of U.S. or Canadian driving experience must also have a current auto insurance policy that is valid in the U.S.
  4. Do you have teaching and/or related professional experience?
If you have 3 years of teaching and/or related professional experience with the school-aged population (ages 5-18), go to question 5. If you do not have 3 years experience, you may still qualify for a position with VIF. Learn more about VIF’s program for new teacher graduates.
