Home Teaching Tips A Token Idea

A Token Idea

E-mail

The school year has begun and you are off to a great start, however, there are a few students in your class that are overly eager. Yes that’s right, overly eager! They always seem to know the answers and their hands shoot up the moment you finish posing a question, which unfortunately seems to discourage the less confident students in the class from participating.

What to do? What to do? It’s at times like this when the token system works beautifully.

Now what exactly is the token system? Well, it’s quite simple.

To begin with you will need to have colored paper which you cut up into small squares. Normally, two squares per student works well. What then happens is that once you begin your lesson or game only the students with these squares may raise their hand to answer a question and once they do they give up a square. Once a student is out of squares they must sit quietly and allow the other students to use up their squares. This system is great for giving all the students a chance to participate!

Teacher Reviews

Valerie and Griffin Stewart

Valerie and Griffin Stewart “We wanted to take a moment to thank you for your help in getting us to South Korea! The transition could not have been smoother and we have been so impressed with the entire process. The staff at Footprints has been amazing. They are always knowledgeable and professional, as well as friendly and personable. We really felt that all of our questions were answered. We have already begun recommending Footprints to our friends! Thanks again!”
