The Lantern Festival in Taiwan, called Yuansiao Festival in Chinese, is a HUGE even. An estimated 3+ million people attent the official national Lantern Festival event in Taiwan. Each year the location of this major event changed. In the past it was exclusively held in Taipei but since 2004 various cities around Taipei have had the honour and opportunity to host the event.
The Lantern Festival has been celebrated for thousands of years in China and in many other places around the world where people of Chinese heritage live. It is traditionally held on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month which is the first day of the year where people are able to see a full moon. This is typically the end of February or beginning of March.
The Lantern Festival will showcase literally tens of thousands of specially made lanterns and each year the host of the event does their best to out-do the year before. Laser shows, music concerts, food markets and general chaos is bound to ensue. It is a feast for the senses and an annual event that you do not want to miss out on.

“I loved my teaching experience through Footprints and would highly recommend the process to anyone. Footprints really works hard to screen for the best, most reputable schools and you can always feel safe accepting a position through them.”
