Teachers Seeking Classrooms

Unfortunately, many schools districts in North America are closing schools and cutting programs.  There are many reasons for this including lowered enrollment, and increased costs.  Whatever the reason, this has left many recent graduates from university education departments without teaching jobs.  Additionally, there are more seasoned teachers who have suddenly found themselves with reduced classroom time or without a classroom altogether.  Most teachers went into this profession because of their passion for teaching and their joy of learning.  The inability to actively participate in their chosen field is often devastating with many teachers fleeing the profession for other careers.

There is another choice.  Recently, there has been an increase in demand for certified teachers in ESL positions overseas.   Many of these positions are in public schools where there’s the opportunity to work with a team of other certified teachers, and to participate in many school activities.   With positions from various Ministries of Education in Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan just for starters, the choices are limitless.

Eventually more positions will open up in your home country, but for now why not take the opportunity to learn from teachers in other countries, gain some ESL experience and travel beyond your borders?  Choose to continue teaching and share your passion with other educators and students from around the world.
