Teachers - Getting Ready
Here is where you can get all the things you need before you head to the airport.  This section of the website helps out with overseas expat medical insurance, the Footprints flight center and a myriad of other pre-departure support areas that we know teachers need to think about prior to heading overseas.
  • Getting your Visa   ( 7 Articles )

The process to get a teaching visa differs from country to country.  Be sure to check in each specific country section for specific instructions on how to get your teaching visa.  This section outlines the basic requirements for teaching visas,  the basic requirements to teach English abroad with Footprints and Apostille Authentication processes for document authentication for teachers.

  • Getting Medical Insurance   ( 7 Articles )
If you're planning on teaching English overseas or just travelling, emergency medical insurance is a smart thing to get.  In our experience, and in dealing with our recommended advisors, we would strongly urge you to consider purchasing a private policy for the entire duration of your time abroad.  In most cases, as an example, a 12 month policy will cost you only about ~$1 a day!

Even if medical insurance is covered by your contract, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

    1. it does not start immediately
    2. it is only local coverage
    3. coverage may not be complete
    4. what if you need to come home
    5. what if you're ill and you need a family member to come to the country you're in
Do not rely on your current health plan whether government or private to cover the costs if you get sick or injured while you are abroad. At best, your health plan will cover only a portion of the bill.
  • Getting Your Plane Ticket   ( 1 Article )
Footprints literally books hundreds of flights for teachers monthly.  Be sure to use the Footprints Travel Agent so you don't encounter problems.  Read this section to learn more.

Alice Kennedy “I just wanted to let you know that I had an absolutely wonderful time at my SMOE/EPIK orientation at Kyung Hee University in Suwon. The staff were incredible, and the topics covered were extremely beneficial. I have already settled into my apartment in Mapo-gu, Seoul and will begin teaching at my high school tomorrow. Thank you again for all of your help throughout this process.”
