Teacher Mentor Program
Footprints is proud to introduce the “Mentor Me Program”
Since Footprints believes in doing things right, we decided that it was time we started a program to assist new teachers to the wonders of teaching in South Korea with a little help from our 700+ Footprints teachers already teaching overseas. That’s why we came up with the “Mentor Me Program”. This great new program gives current teachers the chance to take new teachers under their wings to help them transition from local somebody to international teaching sensation. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship that is sure to enrich both lives and make the experience of teaching overseas that much richer!
Here are the details:
- Step 1 – Footprints matches up one newly hired teacher with a current Footprints teacher who is already teaching in the same location and has signed on to be a mentor.
- Step 2 – New teachers receive a pre-departure package that contains the following information: their mentor’s name, telephone number and email address.*
- Step 3 – Mentors are contacted via email by Footprints to inform them of who their mentee will be.
- Step 4 – "Mentees" are encouraged to contact their Mentors with any questions or concerns they have once in their host country. This is also a great opportunity to form a friendship with someone who “knows the ropes”.
Footprints hopes that this program will provide the extra support and encouragement that new teachers need and we are open to feedback and suggestions for ways to make it even better.
*please note that some Mentors may only have an email address for communication
