Getting a Visa to Teach in Taiwan
Information for New Zealanders
There are some very important differences at the TECO office in New Zealand from TECO offices everywhere else in the world.
First, you must apply at least 10 days prior to your departure or you must give the TECO visa division special notice. If you don't, your application will be rejected.
If you're applying for Resident Visa you must give 3 weeks advance notice.
There are two TECO offices in New Zealand where teachers can apply for visitor visas.
We recommend that you get a single entry, as you will be changing the status of your visa once you arrive to a Resident Visa and then you can apply for a multiple entry. If you do not have a multiple entry and you leave the country, your visa is invalidated. Before applying for your visa please contact the TECO office directly to chat with them about the best way of getting a 60 day visitor visa. Do not mention you are going to be teaching unless you have been accepted for a placement with the Ministry of Education.
