Where Can I Teach Overseas?
Answer: ALMOST ANYWHERE
If you're fresh from university and the ink is still wet on your sociology degree we can get you a teaching job in Korea, China or Taiwan. Once you get a year under your belt the world is your oyster.
The most common first time placement is in a private language school. These programs often run before and/or after school and possibly on weekends. These opportunities are generally very well mapped meaning you have a textbook, workbook and often a teacher's manual to follow. If you learn to use these manuals your life will be MUCH SIMPLER. Class sizes are smaller, the materials are usually more relevant to levels because the classes are smaller and students are often grouped by age and ability, and the resources far more plentiful. The schedules with these opportunities are typically 2pm-9pm. These are great places to get started. The smaller classes and the additional resources make life MUCH simpler and allow you to get your feet under you and develop the skills required to be a good teacher.
So how do you become a good teacher.... one word.... CARE.
Be sincere. Ask for help. Care about what you're doing.
Other Teaching Opportunities Overseas
We offer some placements exclusively to alumni but if we can't find an alumni, we go down the list. We try to find the best suited person for the job which means looking at qualifications but in some cases our clients do want experienced teachers with preconceived notions of how things should be taught.
Public school jobs, international school jobs and many private school jobs are exclusive to certified teachers or to those with experience and TEFL certification. In some cases we are also able to offer first time placements to exceptional candidates in rural public school areas.
