After your three-month probation period you should receive medical coverage from your school. Medical care in Thailand is of excellent quality, very fast and very inexpensive. PLEASE NOTE: If you are 60 some plans will not cover you. If you feel that you will require coverage for any reason, you should get your own. Please check our Medical Insurance section for more information. ImmunizationsGo to your doctor or local travel health clinic and ask for professional advice on immunizations. Be sure to do this as soon as you sign your contract, as some shots are multi-staged and require time to administer. Remember that you may be traveling outside of Thailand so inquire about shots that you may need to go to other countries. Health SuppliesLiving in Thailand may affect your digestive and respiratory systems. Upper respiratory illnesses, earaches, sinus trouble are all very common ailments. We suggest also that if you wear prescription glasses or contacts, bring your prescription with you to ensure you will get the correct lens if necessary. If you have personal prescriptions, such as birth control, you should purchase a year’s supply to bring with you to ensure you get the same medication you have been using. The pharmacies here are well equipped with the necessary medications you may need such as headache and fever. Sunscreens are available, however it is difficult to find anything above SPF 10 |
