Rural vs Urban - Where to Live

E-mail

There truly are enough teaching jobs in China for you to first pick where you want to live and then for you to find a job teaching there.  Footprints will work with you to make sure they do their best to make this happen.

So now it's up to you... where do you want to live?  Or, more to the point, what do you want from China?

  • Urban Environments in China
If you're looking for semblances of the west you are best advised to stick to the major cities on the East coast of China. Life in most of these areas will be interesting to say the least but you will at least have some western identifiers and there will be an expat teaching or working community somewhere near you.

  • Living in Rural China
Here's where you get a chance to see what life was like at the turn of the century back home. There are rural areas of China where there is no indoor plumbing, little or no electricity, no internet BUT most of China is NOT like that. Rural China is often designated as a million people or less... imagine that... How big is the city or town you came from?

Check out the section on cities and towns in China for more information regarding specific locations.
