Getting Your Documents Authenticated
Korea now requires that all documents sent to Korea to apply for an E2 Teaching Visa be authenticated via the Apostille convention from the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
Basically the Apostille System is a sytem set up between governments to recognize other governments documents as legal entities. The Apostille is a notarization of a government agency to say that a document issued by one of their local government agencies is indeed a legit recognized public document.
Canada is one of a few countries that does not recognize Apostille. If you're a Canadian teacher looking to teach in Korea, your documents are actually authenticated at the Korean Consulate nearest to you. Check out our Korea Consulates in Canada links to find the closest consulate to you.
