  • Teaching in Japan

Live and work in one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world while experiencing a culture steeped in tradition. Japan offers teachers the opportunity to develop their skills in highly diverse and professional environments where there is an opportunity to gain valuable exposure to Japan’s unique culture and friendly people. If you want to live in a very safe and fully developed country that has one of the richest cultural heritages in the world, this is definitely the place you want to be.

Japan has been leading the way in Asia for decades both economically and culturally, whether it is automobiles, electronics, or Manga and Animation. As the economy continues to improve, and after hosting such events as the 2002 World Cup with South Korea, interest in connecting with the rest of the world has never been stronger. By playing a role in fostering greater cross-cultural connections, you will receive as much if not more than you give.

  • Money and Banking in Japan

In your own country you are probably used to using plastic. However, be prepared as Japan is a cash culture and the cash is Yen.

You will hardly ever see someone using a credit card and ATM machines are not easy to find.  Not to mention ATM machine hours depend on the individual bank and most are only open from 8am to 10pm with limited hours for Sundays and public holidays.  So it is wise to check in advance and know what hours your bank and their cash machines are open so you do not get stuck without money.  Banks do not charge a fee for deposits or withdrawals within business hours. However, there is a 105 yen fee if you use these services outside business hours.

Teacher Reviews

Shawna Walsh

Shawna Walsh “Well all I can say is it is like nothing you could ever imagine. I am half way through my year and I could never have imagined all that I would learn and experience. Teaching is great, the kids are sweet (most of the time). Korea has lots to see and do. If you like shopping, climbing or eating this is the place for you! Having gotten on the plane and spent half a year here so far I feel like I can do anything. So what are you waiting for? Get on the plane already!”
