Holidays in Georgia

In general, all volunteers  will get weekends and national public holidays as days off.  Those who teach for 1 year will also get 24 days of paid holidays and a return flight home or to a destination of lesser or equal value. This holiday must be taken outside of a school semester-during a winter or a summer break.  Volunteers teaching summer camps may have some additional time off to travel, depending on the arrangements in their camp.

Georgia is a predominantly Orthodox Christian country and Easter is of great importance to the Georgians. Everyone returns to their villages to gather with their families and eat their way through mountains of food. Good Friday, called Red Friday here, is a public holiday, as is Easter Monday.
