Hello Kate,

Thank you for your email. Due to the economy, there are fewer jobs out there these days, and more and more people applying. This means that it is much more difficult for first time teachers to find work, as they are competing with experienced and qualified individuals. This is not to say, however, that there are no jobs available, because there are jobs out there.

The largest hiring for the next 6 months will occur in February with the public schools. This means that the safest bet for gaining employment would be to apply to the public schools, which is what we are encouraging people to do.

Hello Kate,

Thank you for your post. The market is pretty tight out there these days, and we're not seeing many options unless an applicant has a degree in education and experience. First time teachers are recommended to shoot for the public schools in February because they are hiring a large number of teachers, which means there is a great chance of success!
