Our Feature Teacher of the month is Nichole Kalmanek. Nichole contacted us in June of last year, and secured a position with the Gangwondo Provincial Office of Education in September.
Nichole Kalmanek contacted us on behalf of an organization that she is working with called Animal Rescue Korea. She informed us that there was an animal shelter in Daejeon that was being forced to close, and there were 130 dogs without homes that were at risk of being sent to a regulated shelter that only allowed them ten days to be adopted. We sent an email out to our teachers informing them of the organization, and their fund raising efforts, and we are glad to report that they have met with some success.
We were recently notified that the Daejeon Council has agreed to extend the date of the removal of the dogs until July 30th. This will allow more time to find homes for these animals. The organization continues to make weekly trips to Daejeon every Saturday, and their continued efforts have resulted in many adoptions thus far. However, there are still a large number of shy dogs who have not yet found homes, and the volunteers continue to work with them in order to help them socialize and become successful adoption candidates.
There is still more work to be done, and they need your help.

“Footprints Recruiting provided me with generous support in securing teaching employment in Taiwan. As a new comer to Taichung, Taiwan, Footprints staff were very accommodating in aiding my transition between Aussie living to Taiwanese living! The organization provided advice and support, and offered a position that suited me. Footprints also helped by providing support with travel/visa logistics, which was a great help. There is enough to think about when packing off to a new country, let alone what happens when you arrive. I was picked up at the airport and taken to a school which has great resources. I am pleased to have worked with Footprints.
