US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, visited Georgia on her five-nation tour of eastern Europe and the Caucasus and has congratulated Georgia for embarking on the path to democracy and integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
The initiation of the English program in Georgian schools, called Teach and Learn with Georgia is a critical step in the process of providing education and linguistic foundations in English that will allow Georgia to become a vital part of the European community. The project sponsored by the United Nations will see 1000 teachers arrive in Georgia this calendar year and Footprints is proud to be the exclusive teacher recruitment agency assigned to the project.
The project will see teachers placed in homestay situations where they will live with a Georgian family. They will work Monday to Friday in the Georgian public school system where each teacher will teach regular English classes and work directly with five to eight local Georgian teachers, facilitating English learning in each of those teacher's classrooms.
Ben Glickman, co-founder of Footprints Recruiting, says "we are firmly committed to this project and believe strongly this is an excellent step forward for Georgians in their effort to enhance their relevancy in more than just the European community. This project will bring new cultural exposure to Georgians in the way of foreign English teachers teaching, living and traveling around Georgia. On top of that, there is the ripple effect to consider where now 1000 foreigners are getting exposed to Georgian culture. There is a tremendous implication that this project will have in putting Georgia on the map with thousands of friends and families of the teachers who will participate.
