Female Teacher Dress Code

Currently female teachers in Brunei are not allowed to wear trousers for work although some are wearing shalwar khameez type costumes so that is acceptable, but not tailored pants or slacks. Female teachers should dress conservatively in schools at all times.baju-kurong-clothing-brunei

They should not wear clothes that expose any part of their upper body either at the front or back and blouses with short sleeves should cover, as a minimum, the upper arms. Dresses and skirts should be mid-calf to ankle length. Blouses, dresses and skirts should not be transparent or semi-transparent and should not show undergarments.

Many female teachers, once they arrive, prefer to wear a traditional Baju Kurong costume. Muslim teachers are encouraged to wear a tudong or head scarf.
