The Chinese Embassy and Consulate-General in Canberra

The office hours are:

• Mon--Fri 9:00am-12:00pm (only in the morning)

If you are applying for a visa in any of these consulates you may need to demonstrate that this is the area you are living. Often showing that you have a plane ticket departing from Sydney or Melbourne or Brisbane etc offers reasonable grounds that the visa should be processed there.

• Note that you can apply by mail for a visa at the Chinese Consulate-General in Canberra.

Holidays

Note that the Chinese Consulate in Canberra is closed for all national Australian public holidays and for all national Chinese public holidays. To learn more about the holidays in China please refer to our section on Chinese Holidays.

The Korea Consulate-General is closed for the following Korean holidays:

• March 1 - Independence Movement Day
• July 17 - Constitution Day
• August 15 - Liberation Day
• October 3 - National Foundation Day
