All schools we work with offer air transport to and from Korea as part of their standard contracts.
Here's how it works.
- You're accepted by Footprints, then you're accepted by the school.
- You then get your visa and while you're in the process of getting your visa you get in contact with the Footprints Travel Agent.
- You work with our Footprints travel agent to book a one-way ticket from the closest airport to you to the closest airport to the school in Korea.
Why one-way? I was promised round-trip.
You are going to get two one-way tickets. One-way there. One-way back.
Your school will want you to buy a one-way ticket for a couple reasons:
- you may decide to extend your contract - round-trip tickets cannot be extended
- you may have to leave early - then they are out of pocket for the return ticket
- you may decide you want to go somewhere else
- round-trip tickets have to be booked for LESS than 365 days but your contract will be for 365 days. This means your ticket would have to be changed anyway and it would involve change fees.
Why does the school reimburse me on the cost of the ticket?
This is pretty easy. The school doesn't know you. You could just be looking for a free ticket to travel. You might get cold feet after the ticket has been paid for? You might have a family or personal emergency that prevents you from traveling adn the ticket might already be committed to and you may not be able to change it. There are loads of reasons why you should be required to pay up front but rest assured that you will get your money back.
In very rare occasions and in rare opportunities, schools will pay for your ticket up front. If this is a requirement you will need to sign an agreement that states you accept complete responsibilty for this cost for the term of your contract. Any breach of contract on your part would then require payment for the airfare from you.
Footprints Travel Agent
Footprints has our own travel agent who works specifically with out teachers to organize your departure. Booking through online resources, while sometimes fractionally cheaper, is a very risky thing. Often you can't change dates, which could be problematic with visas and in many cases there is no support. Our agent provides 24/7 support to ensure teachers who are stuck at airports or those who need last minute changes get the attention, answers and support that they need.

“I just wanted to say thank you all for your help with the application procedure for teaching in Korea! You helped make it go very smoothly! I've heard stories from teachers who've had a difficult time with it but I must say, I've had a great experience with Footprints and I recommend you to anyone looking to teach in Korea. Nice quick, straight-forward approach to providing information. Friendly staff too! :) Thanks again! By the way, did I mention I love Korea?! :)
