Incheon - Way More Than an Airport

Incheon, South Korea, is located a hop, skip and a jump from Seoul, and it has many other pluses. incheon

It is coastal.  It has Korea's only real China Town.  It is developing like mad because all the money in Seoul has realized that they don't have to live in the concrete jungle and that they can have views of the ocean and spectacular sunsets.

Incheon has everything.  It offers teachers a vibrant nightlife, easy access to Seoul, a great seaside culture with two main areas Sondgo and Wolmido and other secret coastal places that are magical.  There are lots of little mountains which by many would be called hills yet they are dubbed mountains and oddly trekked by individuals dressed for the alps.  These mountains are great for a quick trail ride or a jog or a hike if you please.  They are also great spots to 'scale' to watch the red sun set over the Yellow Sea, also known as the West Sea.

  Food in Incheon

  • Incheon Line 1 – Arts Center Stop
    • Several Western restaurants and international cuisine
    • Chinatown is located very near the Incheon subway station.  There is a distinctive gate/archway marking the entrance.  This is a super spot to try jjajang-myeon, jjambbong (SPICY), tangsuyuk (sweet and sour deep fried pork)
  • There are many restaurants new Bypyeong station
    • Kyochon Chicken
    • BBQ Chicken
    • Lotteria
    • McDonalds and KFC outside of the station
    • Outback Steakhouse, Pizza Hut, and Bennigens inside the station
  • Inha University back gate - there are loads of student bars and restaurants all over the place at Inha's back gate.  Chat with any student to get their recommendations as there are a wealth of good restaurants to choose from.  One gem in there boasts Chilkyusal...  first, do you know what Samkyupsal is?  For those who don't it is basically a variety of side pork.  You cook it on a conveex cooking top over a flame and when it is cooked, you dip it in a seasame, salt and garlic oil,  lay it on a lettuce leaf or catnip leaf, put some dwengjang or kimchi on it, wrap it up and eat it.  YUM YUM YUM - seriously good.  Well, SAM means three.  As in, there are three strips of meat running through the cut you are served.  Chil means 7.  I've never heard of a better cut of bacon :)
