Gwangju, in South Jeolla Province, is located in the far south western part of South Korea.
The coastal areas around the province are second to none in terms of beauty as there are islands galore and beautiful rocky crags. This is one spot where the sunsets are unforgettable. Gwangju the city has about 1.5 million people, it is the regional center for academics and as a city it offers an abundance of culture and opportunities for English teachers.

- 5.18 Memorial Park in Sangmu. There is a statue and exhibit for the people who perished on May 18th 1980 during the student uprising.
